Poetry and Paint

In this course, students will focus on enjoying the art of poetry with age-appropriate pieces from well-known writers such as Shel Silverstein, Edgar Allan Poe, Robert Louis Stevenson, Shakespeare, and more. Students will learn about different forms of poetry, the lives of various poets, and even learn to recite portions of famous works.

Throughout the semester, we will work together to put together our own poem to recite at our RSA performances (for those who feel comfortable doing so).

We will be using various artistic mediums to express ourselves in Poetry and Paint. Poetry often reaches into the reader and brings out an emotional response. The students will use artwork to portray how the poem reached them.

There will be no right or wrong in this class, as it is about expression and reaction. The only requirement here is to have fun and enjoy the art of poetry.
