Latin I

Latin I

Middle School and High School (Ages 13-18)

Instructor: Shannon Johnson

The Study of Latin assists students with English grammar and vocabulary, which is useful for everyday communication as well as preparing for standardized tests. The Cambridge Latin Course has two major objectives: 1. To teach comprehension of the Latin language through practice in reading it; 2. To develop, through these readings, the students’ understanding of the social and political history of the Romans. By integrating culture with language, the Course teaches the skills of reading, comprehension, and critical appreciation.

In Latin I, students will be introduced to the basics of Latin grammar and begin building proficiency in Latin vocabulary. We will also learn about life in the ancient city of Pompeii.
