Beyond Book Reports

This middle school literature class takes students beyond reading to write a book report and into the true meaning of the work; not just what the author says, but what they mean. The class focuses on teaching literary criticism through familiar and easily accessible works. Books include fiction classics such as “The Secret Garden” and biographies like “Carry on Mr. Bowditch.”
