Tanya Newbern taught the younger elementary grades in her early 20s and has loved teaching ever since. She found it so rewarding to see her students beam with pride and self-confidence when they mastered a skill, and that more than made up for the many after-hours of prep and grading papers and low teacher’s pay. She began homeschooling her own children in 2010. Her daughter graduated in 2015 and is currently employed in her field of study while earning her master’s degree in forensic psychology. Her son just graduated from homeschooling in 2020. In the last few years, she has had the opportunity to homeschool other children including those with special needs.
